On the way home from LA, Jen and I found ourselves in a magazine shop looking at candy, when I spied all the Godiva choices, next to the regular crap. I don't EVER typically pick sugar-free ANYTHING because it causes such gastric distress, so when I saw this product next to the "sugar-free" chocolate, I grabbed two.
These Godiva Chocoiste Bars contain 230 calories and only 10 grams of sugar in the ENTIRE SERVING. That, IS AMAZING. You can eat each square for only 2.5 grams of sugar, even better, knowing that, if you have every low tolerance for refined sugar.
And, of course, because it's REAL, and it's GODIVA - it's DELIGHTFULLY DELICIOUS.
You must know, this isn't the first time I've tried the Chocoiste line, I've been eating the chocolate dipped almonds for a while, but I hadn't tried the 72% cocoa bar until that day. And, there's no bitterness to it. Other chocolate bars at 72% are harshly bitter, this, is smooth and sweet. (The Truvia chocolate bar I tried in the summer was AMAZING with zero sugar, but... I have yet to see it for sale!)
Also, with such a low sugar content, I have had no reactive blood sugar events, although I would not eat the entire bar in a sitting, I eat one or two squares as a snack, spaced apart. I could, though, my personal upper sugar limit with my roux en y surgery is higher than 10 grams, this bar would not kill me. If I wanted to push it, chocolate would be the way to go anyway. ;)
Since this chocolate is low in sugar and contains zero sugar alcohols, it may very well be my NEW THING. I am currently pricing it out by the case, wanna go in on it with me? ;) Happy birthday Mama. Nom. Nom. Nom.
