Bariatric Fusion rolled out a line of protein powders for the weight loss surgery patient -- and they are GOOD. The powders come in 32-ounce plastic tubs, single-serving shaker bottles, and single-serving packets. I am testing the single-serving shaker bottles for this review.

First, the nutrition stats:
Each single serving shaker bottle gives you a whopping 27 grams of protein. You add 6-8 ounces of cold water, shake and drink. This bottle is perfect for someone on the go all the time -- or at work. Grab this and fill it up at your spring water tap -- or bring water with you. You probably already carry water, right? It's one of the simplest ways to get a big amount of protein down, without ingesting a huge shake. 27 grams for 6 ounces is a big deal. It's also a complete MEAL replacement, containing vites, minerals and amino acids.
Each serving in the single-serving packets and in the 32 ounce tubs also contain the same 27 grams of protein, and that's one scoop.
You could drink it simply with water (what I am doing since I have the shaker bottles) or you could make a bigger, creamier shake by adding milk, ice, etc, in the blender.
The protein is available a pile of flavors:
- Mint Chocolate Ice Cream
- French Vanilla
- Chocolate Mousse
- Orange Cream
- Strawberry Shortcake
- Cinnamon Bun
When I opened each bottle, I did the prerequisite sniff test. There is no overwhelming protein odor which normally puts me off. Good. Each flavor smells of the actual flavor listed. (Some proteins say, "butt flavor" and then, no "butt flavor" is detected. That is very disappointing.)
The Cinnamon Bun? OMG.
My favorite -- Orange Cream -- because it's my favorite dessert-y flavor. When we are in the vicinity of a soft-serve ice cream shop -- I drool over the thought of creamsicle ice cream. *sigh* ANYWAY.
The texture of the shake is smooth, depending on the water added, it can be slightly thickened or thinned. There are so protein CHUNKS, BUMPS OR LUMPS. It shakes entirely smooth without a blender or a blender cup. If you had a tub of this protein -- you could easily mix it in a cup.
The Bariatric Fusion® Meal Replacement is definitely something you could start using immediately after your weight loss surgery - it's very easy to drink - and since you can use such a small amount of water to mix - there's no reason NOT to get in your daily amount of protein in. Later, it's still a very good source of quality protein to supplement your intake. Two servings at 138 calories each covers most post-ops minimum protein requirement.
(Again, another product I wish I had five years ago when I was sipping on unsweetened soy protein powder and literally begging for something else.)
