Introduce yourself! Hello!

Please feel free to introduce yourself and your blog in the comments.

What brought you to "Melting Mama?"

How long have you been reading?  Do you want a pony?  How do you deal with those pesky wedgies?

Don't know how I found this exactly but it popped up when I did a google search for "body shapers after weight loss surgery" - there you have it.

I had bypass surgery in June of 2005 and have lost 130 lbs. I would love to have a tummy tuck or just hack the sagging skin off around my middle but alas I cannot afford it so spandex is my friend! Would love to hear your story etc.

I'm attracted to hot post-op babes with chemically treated hair and multiple piercings. And their snarky, bad-ass attitudes. Geesh, I think I just described myself. Beth and Jen...separated at birth. I guess it was fate that brought me to the Melting Mecca.

Hello, my name is Shelley, and I am a blog addict. I dont know how I got here...it's all very confusing...I know it had something to do with OH (thank you, Melting Mama, for having a brain of your OWN!) but that's all I remember. I have been reading off an on for 6 months or so...more off than on until recently (no computer at home for a while). I do not want a pony, my neighborhood is not zoned for them (although a turtle might be nice?) And I pick my wedgies...sometimes in public.

Oh, and I am in the process of getting approved for WLS, which I suppose is the bare bones of how I got here.

I think I saw a post from you on OH. I'm fascinated by fellow thirtysomethings who've also had WLS and how they are doing.

Reading through the last few months. Sister, you are something else. Stay well, and stay tough. If there is something I can do to help, send a note.

Hi MM,
I've been reading your entire archive over the last few weeks. (Thanks a lot, I'm supposed to be studying. LOL) It's a terrific blog--honest, funny, real. I'm sure you've seen my IP address a lot in your little reports--now you have a name to go with that. :)

I had lap band surgery in March 2007. I'm now in grad school, studying to be a CRNA. My blog isn't nearly as interesting as yours is, but it's mainly been my place to sort things out during this process and do a little WLS navel-gazing so I won't drive my husband too crazy with the nonstop weight loss talk. It is always on your mind, especially in the beginning, through all the "is this really going to work or am I going to fail at this like everything else" stages. It helps.

You rock, MM. Thanks for putting yourself out there like this for everyone to see. I used to frequent Oh Aych dot com a lot too--it's nice to see someone from there who isn't crazy or addicted to drama. :) Seriously, there are some real nut jobs on those boards. You are refreshing and real. I'll continue to read, hopefully not at the expense of my studies so much, and feel free to check my page if you have a chance.
peace.

I watch the Biggest Loser and just saw that they are going GREEN with the water. I bought a plastic water bottle years ago that had a filter right inside so you could fill then drink on the go. I can't remember the name of it but I am all for anything that nationally proclaims the enviromental good of something this small and the impact it can make when people make just this one change. Inch by Inch it's a cinch, yard by yard it is hard. Little changes can really add up if everyone is willing to do a small part to change just even one thing. I am obese and have Chronic Fatique and Fibromyalgia but decided this year I am going to be proactive and getting the weight off with small changes in my life. I know I will have more energy the more weight I lose so I am really going to give it a good try this time. I have to I am almost bedridden at this point. But I will make small changes and keep with it. Thanks for an encourging website.

My story... Let's see, I had open RNY in 1995. I was almost 19. I have had some health issues since then, I will admit to not taking care of myself along the way. So, two kids later and 85 lb regain, I was searching the web frantically for information. I couldn't have totally destroyed my pouch could I? Since going back to the basics of WLS, I have lost almost 30 lbs! I have thoroughly enjoyed your blog since I found it. You are brutally honest, that has especially helped me with figuring out protein drinks and bars. A lot has changed in 13 years! Keep writing, we'll keep reading!

I'm 48 and weigh over 300 lbs. and I need to change that so I can live to play with my grandchildren. I hurt so much because of all this weight, I can't stand for long and I have to do a little housework and then rest before I can do more. I feel like i'm 70 years old. I am going to really try to change things, I'd have a bybass if I could afford it, my sister did and she is a size 8 now, but I'm broke and could not work outside the home if I wanted to. So I am joining any site about weight loss I can for support.

A pony? Where's my pony? Is this where I get my pony?.....LOL
I had what I thought was an RNY in 1999 done not by a bariatric surgeon, but a regular gastro guy. (Turned out to be a mini gastric loop-I found this out in 7/08! )

Cut to this past July when someone told me there's this thing called a "revision". I had been thinking for years I had totally failed and now there was this possibility of getting help. Long story short-during this new journey I find out that my original surgery gave me a 65cc pouch (vs the 20cc now given), and the amount of intestine bypassed was...(drum roll) 4 CM!!!!!! (vs the 150cm of the RNY)

Anyhow, I am getting a revision to DS on Jan 26th and feel like I am getting a second chance at a new life. I plan on following everything letter by letter and need all the help I can get-Thanks for having me!

Love and Light~

I have a surgery date. February 17, 2009.
I have been lurking your blog for a couple weeks now learning and your blog has been a part of helping me make my decision - so I thank you for that.

Keep writing and blessings to you and yours

Hello MM,

Hmmm...what brought me to your blog? My wls of course. I had a Rny 12/18/08. Still adjusting to this new life of mine and read (voraciously) anything I can find to help me. Good to find someone who has made my part of the journey and has good, common sense approaches to our new life.
I dont think I have ever paid as much attention to myself as this surgery has made me do. This is a good thing. Perhaps I can win my weight loss battle.
Thanks for all your help. Oh, by the way...I did vote for your blog!

Hello! I've "seen you around" OH over the last few years... But, today was the first time I'd visited your site. I admit, I'm getting into the blogging game a little late... I just started, and now realize that I have my work cut out for me... ha ha. I've had a great ride with the WLS, and I just want to talk about it. (blog) .. see, I told you....

Why am I here? Are you kidding..I heard you were giving away free ponies!!! Seriously though...I am in the process of getting approved for lap RNY (fingers crossed). And since I have made this commitment to a new healthy life I want as much information as possible to help me make the right choices to keep myself healthy. I was doing a web search for protein and ta da I found this site. I saw it was a fantastic resource so I favorited it !

Hi - big fan here. We're in the same neck of the woods and its great to see a funny, intelligent woman making herself heard. Love your blog and all your advise/insite on OH. I've moved my regular haunt from the Band forum to the Main because of you and Eggface and some other wonderful and smart people. Keep up the good work - I've always wanted a pony but I don't scoop poop so I'll stick with my fish!!

HI-Had RNY Gastric Bypass In Dec 07. So I'm a little more than a year out now. I'm here because I've started having increasing symptoms of Hypoglycemia. With my BS going into the 50-60 range within in a few hours after eating, and because of some strange night symptoms while sleeping I am suspecting they are getting dangerously low overnight too. Anyways from my days on OH I remember you posting about this and came to get info.
