I've never heard of this show before -- you know I don't watch much/any TV -- fiction is not my thing. Give me PBS, give me 20/20!
But, this is on topic!
On this episode of Royal Pains, WLS gets a shout. OR -- I should say -- complications get a shout out. Go deficiencies! "Memory loss?" HI THERE! HAVE YOU MET MM?
I have to say it's awfully goofy listening to stuff like this that I know all about when it's not coming Dr. House fashion. O-o
Episode 203 - Keeping The Faith. (There's no embed code, I am trying.)
(I'm glad I just took my carb-blockers and anti insulin meds.)
You know what is so sad about this? I, a 31 year old woman, am too old to stay awake for the 11:30pm show.
I set up my DVR to tape Betty White on SNL at 8:30pm and went to BED. I laid in bed and watched a few minutes of Schizophrenic Kids on Discovery Health, then, Law and Order, and passed out with the lights on, the TV on.
And, I missed it. I missed Betty White. LOL. I can hope to be this ballsy when I am 88.5 years old.
A little birdy or two shared something with me. Ruby, of the Style Networks' weight loss reality series, "Ruby" - has lost a bazillion pounds while being filmed for the show. Supposedly she was following a diet delivery plan.
It's not a revision, it's a reality television show, on the Game Show Network, which I admit that I have never even seen, but, Game Show? My initial reaction is, "Why?" Others are quite harsh. I get that she's already done the Newlywed Game on this network, and I would totally watch a Carnie Reality Series, that is, if it's REAL and not game-show-y. I loathe game shows.
As for the title of the reality series, I have to admit THAT is what sucked me in to the news article. I was like, "WAIT, WHAT? Is she anti-WLS now? Are they making a series about a revision? On the game show network?" You see, "Unstapled," like, as in, "stomach stapling" an outdated term for weight loss surgery, and Gee That's Funny, Ha Ha?
Wilson, who has a newborn, Luci, and a toddler, Lola, with husband
Rob Bonfiglio, said viewers will see her trying to take off about 50
pounds of "baby weight."
Besides her TV shows and music career that includes solo releases,
Wilson is a spokeswoman for liteandhope.com, a support site for those
suffering from morbid obesity. The "Unstapled" in the reality show's
title is a play on Wilson's gastric-bypass surgery, which can involved
stomach stapling, a GSN spokeswoman said.
Wilson also makes a line of desserts for a Los Angeles area candy
shop SweetHarts, owned by actress Melissa Joan Hart. Wilson said that's
a "passion" as much as a business. She likes feeding people, she said.
Blythe Beck, the fiery young chef and star of Oxygen's upcoming series The Naughty Kitchen With Chef Blythe Beck, shows off her distinctive sexy American cuisine, her cutting edge Dallas restaurant, Central 214, and her loud and flamboyant staff. “The Naughty Kitchen With Chef Blythe Beck” is certain to cook up the drama both in and out of the kitchen.
In The Naughty Kitchen With Chef Blythe Beck, Oxygen follows executive chef Blythe Beck, a 29-year old Texas native, who is plus-sized in stature and personality, and her colorful crew at Central 214, inside and outside the kitchen as they interact with the Dallas elite and the local university students.
I love that they have to state the obvious, and market the show that way, "plus-sized in stature and personality."
Who cares -- if the personality is enough -- it should sell the show! In fact: Episode 1 was titled: Better Wear Your Stretchy Pants! (This gives me a little post traumatic stress about my former size 3X elastic-waist only pants!)
Some of the comments on the Oxygen website are nasty, suggesting she cook "low-fat dishes" and lose weight. Some say her personality is overwhelming and obnoxious. (Although, if she were a skinny girl, would her personality be funny and infectious? Just sayin'.)
She thinks
the show "will really appeal to people, because we all have bad days
and people hate you. We all get 'reviewed' every day. Mine's just very
public." It's that sassy side that helped her land the show, which
Oxygen calls a "docu-series."
Although she warns that the
behind-the-scenes turmoil "gets worse before it gets better," she seems
to enjoy it all.
"In my world, I'd be on TV for the rest of my life. That's my goal, that's my plan."
Okay, so I giggled a little, and am quite intrigued, too. I think I will like this chick, and want her to come over.
But, still, does it have to be all "Look at the fat girl cooking! OMG!" But, seriously, Mmm bacon! Read naughty recipes.
That might look like my mac and cheese, if you know, that's pork in there.
Don't come over. Because while I am trying to get the yellow pollen off of everything (I am allergic) the child found a stash of powdered peanut butter. "Mama, come see!"
She will put me in a home.
Last night I watched Obsessed on A + E. I have to tell you that I had a mixed reaction. On one hand it made me feel a little more normal, and then not, because I can identify (though not anywhere near such extremes) as can my roll of toilet paper spouse.
